The Fantasia Menace

Taylor made this instead of coming to my championship volleyball game tonight. He's nerdily pretty excited about the idea of more Star Wars movies ... though he says he's been burned before.

wedding photo wednesday | part two

It's time for more wedding photos! It makes total sense. We're celebrating our year anniversary at the end of the month. Today I've shared some family+friend shots from outside the temple. Next week I'll post some more of Taylor and me and some reception photos too. Can't stop, won't stop! Don't we have good looking families?! Answer-yes.

DIY | kitchen chairs

So our kitchen chairs have been making me want to puke for a while now. Today I decided to do something about it. Here's an easy how-to if you're looking to do the same.

You will need:
  • nasty chairs to recover
  • fabric to cover chairs (7/8 of a yard covered 2 chairs for me)
  • screwdriver or electric drill
  • stapler
  • scissors
I decided to recover the nasty tan-velour-track-suit fabric on chairs with this yellow and grey print. I got the end of the bolt at Joann's and got 50% for the 'scrap' price. Holla!

Step 1: Use your drill or screwdriver to remove the seat from the chair.

This is probably easier than you think. I pretty much took out every screw I could find when I only had to take out 3 to get the seat off. Yes, I went to college.

Step 2: Lay out your fabric on a flat surface and put the seat on the fabric face down.

I would also recommend ironing the fabric. I skipped that step because I am lazy. You should get most wrinkles out by pulling tightly but it wouldn't hurt to iron before hand.

Step 3: Pull fabric edges around the seat, pulling tightly. Start stapling!

I would start with one straight side and work your way around. Corners can be tricky, especially if your fabric is thicker. Do your best. Mine looks pretty crappy underneath but no one can see that. Just pull as tight as you can around the corners and staple as much as you need to. Don't be shy. Staples are cheap! And you can always pull them up if you mess up.

Step 4: Staple everything else.

One tip I would give is to leave more room than I have in the picture below. You want to make sure the fabric stretches enough to be covered by the chair when you put the seat back on. This edge was cutting it close.

Step 5: Screw the seat back on. Bask in your awesomeness.

October baby!

Happy October 1st! I love fall. Today I celebrated by running errands with the windows down, listening to some James Taylor and treating myself to a bag of candy corn and a couple of gourds. Aren't gourds the coolest? I bought the ugliest ones I could find. Thanks Walmart!

I thought I'd make a little fall board today. It consists mainly of things I want that I cannot afford ($795 bag), with a few things I already have (JT cd), and a few things I can afford (the leaves).

Happy fall, peeps!

I want to go to there | switzerland

I am starting a new segment on my blog entitled I want to go to there! (à la Liz Lemon). We don't really have plans to travel abroad much in the next 5-20 years, thus I stalk Pinterest for all the places I want to go someday. First up, Switzerland!

wedding photo (a year later) wednesday

I figured 11 months in was a good time to start posting some wedding photos! You know, when everyone has completely lost interest in us/has moved on to asking us when we're having babies. I realized today that I've only posted 7 photos from our wedding day on this blog. Out of the 527 photos we have, I have posted 1.3% of them. Now I don't want to go overwhelming anyone with a million photos from our perfect day so we'll start small and I'll continue to post them until you don't realize you have seen every last one of them.

fall drive

On Sunday we ventured up the canyon with the fam to roast some hot dogs and s'mores. It was such a pretty drive! Fall has officially arrived. And I hope it lasts through oh, December 18th-ish, and then it can snow a little bit right before Christmas, and then it can be spring! Best idea ever.

the fitz

Taylor and I have been homeowners for over a year now. Isn't that bananas? It looks like we moved in a few months ago. We could still use some help in the decorating department. (And by help I mean money.) I kid!

One of our next projects is to blow up some book covers we like to frame for either our living room or bedroom. These have definitely topped my list. They're so beautiful.

tiny instagram magnets

While perusing Pinterest the other day, I came across this tutorial for tiny polaroid magnets. Um, yes. Awesome. So today I made like 100. Go to the link for the tutorial! It's awesome.

Tips? Don't make 100. For starters, it takes a long time and also, it looks stupid to cover your entire fridge with them. Also, if you use thin enough cardboard, you can use scissors instead of an xacto knife and it will save you a couple hours. Go make some! (Or come take some of mine. I made too many.)

spring + summer 2012

Remember how I'm the worst blogger of all time? Do people blog anymore? I hate myself. This post is happening, people. Since I'm too lazy to catch you all up on my action-filled last six months, I will just post a ton of pictures. We had a pretty relaxing summer, hanging in beautiful Midway with my family. We went to the Shakespeare festival with Taylor's family and had a bard-to-the-bone time. Went to Cali in April. Ate some waffles. Won some Wicked lotteries. It was a pretty great summer. We have high hopes for Christmas in Kauai! Good thing I worked on my tan all summer. Me = so tan right now. So so tan.

young wini

In a few weeks I am going to California to celebrate my grandma Wini's 90th birthday! I get to work on the slideshow that's going to play at her birthday party. My uncle sent me a disc full of the most amazing images of my sweet grandma. This one is my favorite.

Right?! I mean seriously. Beau.ti.ful. I'll probably post a gazillion more in the next few weeks. There are some amazing shots. I can't wait to go and celebrate! I love her so much. Here are some shots of the two of us back in October at my wedding.

Love you grandma Wini! See you in two.

ben stamos

I am home sick today and started thinking about haircuts. Since I'm totally indecisive and can't decide what to do with my own hair I thought, "at least I know what I'd do to bachelor Ben's hair." The obvious choice being give him some John Stamos hair.

You're welcome, America.

So really, what should I do to my hair? Chop or no chop? Bangs or no bangs? Discuss.

Harry Potter Valentines (Part II)

Check out this year's Taylor Swift valentines here!

I've gotten so much love from these it's riddikulus! Thanks for liking the first batch. Here are a few more... Go nuts.
