Taylor and I have been homeowners for over a year now. Isn't that bananas? It looks like we moved in a few months ago. We could still use some help in the decorating department. (And by help I mean money.) I kid!

One of our next projects is to blow up some book covers we like to frame for either our living room or bedroom. These have definitely topped my list. They're so beautiful.

burlap pillows

So my favorite store in Newport Beach sells these awesome graphic printed pillows on burlap. Lots of interiors stores are selling them nowadays. They're kind of IN. They're also a wee bit freaking pricey. Like to the tune of $800 if you're my favorite store in Newport Beach.

At my last visit with my mom, she decided she could make the pillows for much cheaper than aforementioned $800 pricetag. I sent her some designs and she and my sister Brooke made them for me for my birthday. I think it was a lot more work than they anticipated (they cut out each design by hand. Yeah look at the baby on the right.) But the end result is AWESOME. Here are the finished pillows on my bed. I am SO happy with them.

Came across these beautiful embroidered book covers by Jillian Tamaki on a few blogs today. They are absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had done them. You should peruse some of her other work on her site. She's one heckuva(n) illustrator.

I am lovin' on these state mottos. Have you guys seen these? Here's a little description. So. Rad.

Hi friends! Sorry for the brief hiatus. I was in Newport Beach getting tan and fit eating and staying pale.

Saturday morning I went to breakfast with my mom and sister-in-law. It was a beautiful day so we took a little morning drive down the PCH to Laguna.

On our way back, we stopped at my favorite store in the world. Juxtaposition. It's in Crystal Cove. If I could decorate my home from anywhere, it would be here. They have some really beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces and I am obsessed with every pillow and book in the joint. Words cannot describe how much I am in love with this place.

Here are some of said pillows I am obsessed with. Since the price tag on these babies can run around $700+, my mom and I decided to make our own. For my birthday, I sent my mom some designs I came up with and she and my sister are stenciling them on burlap for me. Isn't my mom awesome? They are looking really cool and I can't wait to see them in my living room.

The rest of my trip was filled with wandering around Balboa Island and spending time with family. The trip convinced me that I officially have SAD and need to get out of Utah. It was 70 degrees the whole time and I was a very happy camper.

want 'em!

I am obsessssssed with these!!! Who wants to buy me some? I want some for my kitchen that say, "EAT." Oooorrrr "YUM" orrrrrr "FATTY"...  No that's too expensive. I want them for everything!

brooks bakes

Back in December I designed a bakery logo for two friends of mine who are sisters. Kristan recently posted a photo on her blog of the framed logo. It was a really fun project and I think it looks so cute in her kitchen. Please note the gorge Anthro mugs to the left. I love designing for people with awesome taste.

kate spade

Four years ago I went on a trip with my 12 graphic design classmates to New York. We got to visit lots of design firms and in-house design teams that do really great work. One of my favorite visits was Kate Spade.

We got to see the showroom where they housed upcoming bags and projects. McDreamland! We also got to hang out in the studio and see what kinds of things inspire their designers.

Since I probably won't get to do something that awesome again, I will settle for frequenting their website. I really like the Behind the Curtain section. Ever checked it out? Do it!

They like cool things. And so can you.
